Hard times....

I must be missing something. For the economy to recover and grow, it needs people to buy stuff…consume goods, products and services. All businesses are feeling the crunch. So what do they do? Lay workers off. So is someone who just got canned going to spend money? No they will tighten up and spend less, which is the complete opposite of what the economy needs right now. WTF! We are in a vicious circle and business is not helping. This past week my company laid off a bout twelve people statewide, not a lot but in some stores that was three to five people. These are highly trained people who the company has invested countless hours training. Now we have to do more work with less talent in the stores….WTF! My store lost Dominika a very bright, capable part time employee who wanted/ needed a full time position. Then this week my company spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for its annual national sales meeting. Flying thousands of mgrs, paying for hotels, transport and of course, guest speakers. Now granted they had already budgeted for the meeting, but how could you do that after cutting people’s jobs. It isn’t fair; it’s stupid and very counterproductive. There are times business does not make any sense to me.
